Demand the Wyoming Legislature End “Chasing Fur,” Or Snowmobiling Over Wildlife
No animal deserves this kind of cruelty.
On Feb. 29, Cody Roberts exposed the horrific subculture of running over animals with snowmobiles, called “chasing fur” or coyote whacking.
After immense public pressure, the state legislature formed the Treatment of Predators Working Group, which unbelievably actually just put forward a bill that instead legalizes killing animals with snowmobiles as long as they die right after you do it.
So despite the huge public outcry, Wyoming plans to give this abhorrent practice official legal protection.
But we can still stop this.
The Wyoming Legislature’s Travel, Recreation, Wildlife and Cultural Resources Committee meets at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 30 in Cheyenne to review this bill — and they need to hear from you.
This bill cannot pass out of committee; it needs to be sent back. Elected officials need to listen to our voices, and end this cruel practice.

Sample Message:
Dear Travel, Recreation, Wildlife, and Cultural Resources Committee members,
I was shocked to learn that after the immense public outcry over the treatment of the wolf Cody Roberts ran over with a snowmobile this past February, the Treatment of Predators Working Group isn’t recommended legislation to end this practice.
Killing wild animals with vehicles goes against shared ethical standards for every constituency who cares about wildlife, from wildlife watchers to hunting groups. In any other situation, this behavior would receive a felony animal cruelty charge. Predatory species in Wyoming still deserve protection from abuse and no animal, whether domestic or wild, deserves to be treated with such outrageous aggression, brutality and violence.
It would be shameful if Wyoming couldn’t make running over animals with snowmobiles illegal. The majority of people inside and outside Wyoming demand an end to “chasing fur.”
Please reject any bill that continues the practice of running over wildlife with snowmobiles and other vehicle. People across the state and from our entire nation agreed that the circumstances under which the wolf was captured and killed in February were inhumane. Wildlife watchers, hunters, and the public all agree: this isn’t fair chase, this isn’t management — it’s animal cruelty and it has to end.
No animal deserves to be tortured and suffer that kind of prolonged pain before death.
Sincerely,
