End Snowmobiling Over Wildlife: Tell the International Snowmobile Manufacturers Association to take a stand against running over animals with snowmobiles
No animal deserves this kind of cruelty. In February, Cody Roberts exposed the horrific subculture of running over animals with snowmobiles, called “chasing fur” or coyote whacking, to the world.
The global outcry was overwhelming, and it’s time the snowmobile manufacturers added their voices to this fight. We demand the manufacturers of snowmobiles take a stand against the misuse of these vehicles to harass and kill wildlife. These companies must step forward and make a strong statement against their products being used in animal cruelty.
Sign our petition demanding that the International Snowmobile Manufacturers Association (ISMA) take a stand against “coyote whacking” or “chasing fur.”
END SNOWMOBILING OVER WILDLIFE
SIGN THE PETITION TO ISMA:
We urge you, the manufacturers of snowmobiles, to take a stand against the misuse of these vehicles to harass and kill wildlife. As leaders in the snowmobile industry, it is more important than ever that your companies step forward and make a strong statement against your products being used in animal cruelty.
Your brands have built their reputations on values such as stewardship, responsibility, and respect for the environment. Polaris’s “Geared for Good” initiative and Ski-Doo’s “Responsible Rider Program” already emphasize ethical riding and respect for wildlife habitats. Yet, when actions like running over wildlife go unchallenged by the industry, these commitments are called into question.
Now is the time for your companies to demonstrate your dedication to these values by publicly denouncing the use of snowmobiles in the pursuit and killing of wildlife.
We urge you to:
- Issue a public statement condemning the use of snowmobiles to chase, harass, or kill wildlife, and make it clear that such actions are not supported by your companies.
- Add language to condemn chasing fur or whacking into The Pledge.
- Incorporate wildlife protection guidelines into your existing responsible riding programs, educating snowmobilers about the ethical treatment of wildlife and the importance of preserving natural ecosystems.
- Collaborate with conservation organizations, wildlife experts, and government agencies to develop stronger guidelines and campaigns promoting ethical snowmobile use that prioritizes animal welfare.
Taking a stand now will not only protect wildlife but also reaffirm your companies’ commitment to ethical outdoor recreation. Without censure from within the outdoor recreational community, the bad actions of a few snowmobilers jeopardize the privileges of all recreationalists to use snowmobiles on public lands
We urge you: lead the way in promoting responsible snowmobile use that honors the spirit of outdoor adventure without sacrificing the lives of our nation’s cherished wildlife.
Thank you for joining our call to ensure that snowmobiles are used responsibly and ethically, preserving the integrity of your brands and the sport of snowmobiling.
