July 2024 Newsletter
July is a special time for us at Wildlife for All as we celebrate Wild About Wildlife Month!
Established in 1984, this observance highlights the conservation restoration and protection of wild animals in their native habitats.
It is a month to celebrate wildlife, but also a moment to remember how much wild animals need us, now more than ever. The world is experiencing a loss of nature that scientists call “biological annihilation.” Since 1970, we’ve lost nearly three billion birds in North America alone. Forty percent of all animal species are at risk of extinction in the U.S.
Wildlife is in crisis, but here in the U.S., the government agencies we depend on to protect wildlife and prevent extinctions are missing in action. That’s because they continue to prioritize providing hunting and fishing opportunities, and selling licenses that bring them revenues, over saving biodiversity.
We can’t protect America’s wildlife without reforming state wildlife management in every state. It’s that simple.
Here at Wildlife for All, we’re celebrating Wild About Wildlife Month by renewing our commitment to reform state wildlife management to be more democratic, just, compassionate and focused on protecting ALL wild species.
Thank you for being a vital part of our community. Together, we are creating a brighter future for wildlife.
Compassionately Yours,
Kevin Bixby & Michelle Lute

What We’ve Been Up To
Advocacy Toolkit Coming Soon! We’re excited to share that we will soon release our Advocacy Toolkit, a powerful resource designed to help groups and individuals be effective advocates for reforming wildlife management in their state.
From understanding the details of wildlife decision-making to crafting compelling messages, our toolkit has it all. Readers will walk away with essential tools and information to promote wildlife governance reform and effectively influence policy decisions.
Please let us know at info@wildlifeforall.us if you’d like to receive a link to the toolkit once it is available, or if you have suggestions for how we might distribute it.
The Advocacy Toolkit was funded in part by grants from the Fund for Wild Nature and the Maki Foundation.
Opposing Harmful Hunting Amendments: Wildlife for All joined the list of groups opposed to a proposed Florida constitutional amendment on the ballot in November that would enshrine hunting and fishing as the preferred method of wildlife management in that state, including “traditional” methods like leghold traps, neck snares, hunting with hounds, etc. Groups like the National Rifle Association, Congressional Sportsmen Foundation and the International Order of T. Roosevelt are pushing to enact so-called “Right to Hunt” amendments in every state. Twenty-three states already have them. WFA opposes these measures because they make it more difficult to pass needed reforms like banning wildlife killing contests, they privilege consumptive users over the general public in wildlife matters, and they are unnecessary because there is no serious effort to ban hunting in any state.
What's Coming Up
Presenting at TAFA 2024: On Saturday, July 20 Workshop Announcement: Michelle Lute will present “Leveraging Regulatory Processes for Wildlife Protection,” a workshop co-led with Jill Fritz and Amanda Wight of HSUS at Taking Action for Animals (TAFA) 2024. Workshop attendees will discover how to navigate the regulatory landscape and influence state wildlife commissions and federal agencies to prioritize wildlife protection over hunting, trapping, and agricultural interests.
Hosted in Washington, DC from July 19-22, TAFA brings together Humane Society of the United States volunteers, advocates and animal welfare organizations from across the country for one shared goal: to better the lives of animals and humans alike.
Coalition Partner Spotlight
We’re thrilled to spotlight the upcoming IWCN rally in Washington, DC, on September 22-23, 2024, for the Trinity Act legislation. Sponsored by Cory Booker, the Trinity Act/Heritage Bill aims to protect grizzly bears, wolves, and bison through tribal co-stewardship, providing a strong safeguard against currently inadequate state policymaking. Join us in supporting this monumental effort led by Suzanne Asha Stone and Dallas Gudgell, with 38 tribal leaders flying in to advocate for wildlife and restore biodiversity on our public lands. Be part of this epic event and rally for our Wild Heritage!
Ways to Get Involved:
- Attend the Rally in DC: Show your support by joining us in Washington, DC, for the rally on September 22-23, 2024. Your presence will amplify our collective voice for wildlife protection and tribal co-stewardship.
